Apricot is the fruit of apricot. This fruit is native to China, it is still found there as well as in Japan and Korea in the wild. The culture dates back more than 2000 years in China and was then introduced in Iran and Armenia then throughout the Middle East. The Greeks and Romans came to know this fruit at a moment and called it the apple of Armenia. World production is dominated by Turkey and Iran.
Apricot is used in the dishes of many European and Oriental countries. In China it is even used in pharmacology via the oil extracted from its kernel.
