Macadamia

Macadamia nut or Queensland nut, is the fruit of Queensland integrifolia, this species is endemic to Australia and takes its name from an Australian scientist originally from Scotland John Macadam.

It is still grown in Australia and New Zealand but was first exported to Hawaii, then to South America, South Asia and locally to Africa.

It is eaten natural, cooked, salted, caramelized, coated with chocolate, as an aperitif, in snacks, and of course in many delicacies (ice cream, cookies and other desserts).

An oil is extracted and used in food and especially in cosmetics to relax during massages.
